Live GPS tracking

Track driver progress in real time through the day

The Routific mobile app uses GPS location data to send live updates about your driver locations.

On the map, the arrow icon shows the current location of your driver's phone. Dispatchers can monitor driver locations and progress this way.

Other tracking info

There are a few ways to see at a glance how the day's deliveries are progressing. When a driver completes an order in the mobile app, dispatchers will see that reflected in the following areas:

  • On the map, timeline, and in the route details, completed stops are shown in solid color.

  • The vertical blue line shows the current time, so you can quickly understand if drivers are running ahead of or behind schedule.

  • Any driver notes or proof of delivery images will be visible in the order details as the driver uploads them.

Customer Notifications

Some Customer Notifications are based on live tracking as well. The customer will get an “on the way” notification when the driver is approaching.

The exact timing depends on your workspace settings, but the default is to send the notification when the driver is 30 minutes away. The customer can then watch the driver approaching using the Delivery Tracker.

NB: Once the order is marked complete, the customer will no longer be able to see the driver’s location.

What if you can’t see your driver locations?

GPS tracking only works if drivers have enabled location services on their phones.

Drivers should select "Always Allow / Allow all the time" to share their location with dispatchers and customers. This allows tracking to continue even when the driver has switched away from the Routific mobile app and is using a navigation app like Google Maps or Waze to get turn-by-turn directions.

Drivers may get a message saying that Routific has been using their location in the background. This is a standard operating system message to alert users that their location tracking is enabled — but we do not actually track drivers after their routes are completed.

See Using the Routific mobile app for more details.
