# How to add orders

Upload a spreadsheet into your Routific Workspace, or add orders one by one

### Watch: Uploading orders into Routific

Before you can plan a route, you need to know where you're going. The only thing Routific needs is a list of addresses. Everything else is optional.

You might also want to add extra information like:

- Customer name

- Order or invoice number

- Contact details (email or phone number)

- Unit or buzzer number

- Delivery time windows

- Duration

- Load

- Delivery notes for the driver

**There are three ways to add orders:**

1. Upload a spreadsheet

2. Add orders manually

3. Import them automatically with an integration

## **1\. Upload orders using a spreadsheet**

### Set up your spreadsheet

This is what your spreadsheet should look like:

CSV, XLS and XLSX files are accepted.

Got more columns? No problem — **you can create custom fields** and map them when you upload your spreadsheet. (See below.)

### Upload your spreadsheet to Routific

You can upload from either the **Orders** page or the **Routes** page — whichever you're on.

**From the Orders page**

If you don't have any orders yet, drag and drop your file onto the upload box, or click it to choose a file. You can also download our template here.

![Orders screen showing a CSV, XLS, or XLSX upload area, template and column-mapping buttons, and other ways to add orders. Visible: Orders, Search orders, Select a CSV, XLS, or XLSX file to upload, or drag and drop your file here, Download template, Reset column mapping.](https://staticfiles.gleap.io/ghelparticle/lAsEX5Yya58aMd1jbiqWK7AE8B1zajjN8cxoJ02LPF9jXrF47lqG6oN1NGDvuwZUnL1Q0tsPbSi.png)

Already have orders? Click **\+ Add orders** in the top right corner, then **Upload spreadsheet with orders**.

![Orders map screen with the Add orders menu open; a red arrow points to the menu’s upper-left edge. Visible: Status, Created date, Add orders, Upload spreadsheet with orders, Add order, Add orders from Shopify.](https://staticfiles.gleap.io/ghelparticle/6gF623yYeKgWB0Gpqf14Ot1HqhTWx9xeJ5BXhEJ8lSXr7aaxCYRjziC1uEan5CFt2RksgOLEnIf.png)

**From the Routes page**

Click the **+** button at the top, then **Upload spreadsheet with orders**.

![The Routes timeline screen shows a map and the open add menu, with a red arrow pointing to “Upload spreadsheet with orders.”. Visible: Routes timeline, 2, Sort, Plan routes, Add orders, Upload spreadsheet with orders.](https://staticfiles.gleap.io/ghelparticle/bYN82zNc73a1nXywJkXXquewGnvGkXh5jojKymAoAlJe2yLZGhVnuzAoqQd7SHS1uxbJtc5TJXI.png)

### Map your data

If your column headings are different from ours, the data mapping tool pops up after your upload. Use the dropdowns to match each of your columns to a Routific field — customer name, driver notes, unit number, email, order number, and so on.

![](https://staticfiles.gleap.io/ghelparticle/4HmdTrvPglrU6psT7IAcOtLZKrbG7wAxpLZaNJb5CMXfAyTXDOuuzHfOcx8IeHNoCva7bWRDenB.png)

Mapped the wrong column? Click **Reset column mapping** on the Orders page and upload again.

### Add custom fields

Need a field we don't have — like an invoice number your drivers should see? Find the column and click **Select field**. Type the field name in the text box and click **+**.

![](https://staticfiles.gleap.io/ghelparticle/2lMFeRYSRxAe3OipthiQEQKnSXLnAcKjA01MahyEQhbWXZDB7FvGZWn3IVUNKOolw9tRQNmnT5R.png)

Your custom field is now mapped. It appears on the order details page and in the Routific mobile app for drivers.

When you're done, click **Upload** to continue.

## **2\. Add orders manually**

No spreadsheet? Add orders one at a time from either page:

- **Orders** page: click **\+ Add orders**, then **Add order**. (If the page is empty, click **Create orders manually**.)

- **Routes** page: click the **+** button, then **Add order**.

Add the address and any other order details.

_\*You can enter an address, lat-long coordinates, or pin the location on the map._ [_Learn how Routific makes sure you find the right address._](https://help.routific.com/en/articles/34-cant-find-your-address.md)

Click **Add** when you're ready.

> **Info:** Delivering to the same customers again and again? Save them once, then use Add order from customers to create their orders in a click.

## **3\. Import orders with an integration**

If your orders already live in another system, skip the spreadsheet and send them straight to Routific:

- [**Shopify**](https://help.routific.com/en/articles/59-connect-shopify-to-routific.md) — click **Add orders from Shopify** on the Orders or Routes page

- [**Zapier**](https://help.routific.com/en/articles/76-connect-routific-with-zapier.md) — connect Routific to thousands of other apps, no code needed

- [**API**](https://help.routific.com/en/articles/33-automate-your-delivery-operations-with-routifics-apis.md) — link your own system using our REST API

Once your orders are in, you're ready to [schedule and optimize your routes](https://help.routific.com/en/articles/7-how-to-plan-and-optimize-routes.md).
